I think it’s necessary to reflect on the sufferings of Jesus. I think it is necessary so that we don’t think God must have abandoned me because I am suffering. Think then that Christ has suffered far more than you ever have. Remember that He surely understands your suffering and remember that His suffering was for your benefit.

Before we come to the cross let’s notice that Jesus was acquainted with suffering for all of His life. It is not as if He was smiling until the cross and then suddenly He entered into His suffering. This is certainly not the case.
